Sweet Meriam's Summer MACC Farm Program Announced
Sweet Meriam's Farm in Beaver Springs hosts hands-on educational events for children grades 2 through 8. Dates for 2009 season are announced. Sponsored by the Penn State Extension, Snyder County 4-H, and Middlecreek Area Community Center (MACC)
This is the 2009 Farm Program schedule (the 5th year the program has been offered):
Thursday - May 21 Youth Planting Activity at the Farm, 4:30 pm – 5:45 pm (Parents welcome)
June 18 to August 6th- weekly Thursday Farm Program- 8:30 am-12:45 pm
Saturday, July 18th Open House at the Farm-10am-1pm includes lunch.
Parents participate in Family Fitness activities with their child.
August 5th Overnight Camping, Parents join the youth for an Enjoy the Harvest and Family Fitness activities, includes a meal, 6-8 pm.

Kristen runs the farm along with her husband, Mike Savario. The CSA operation is managed by Heather Donald, Carla Hine, and Hannah Bingman.
More information about Sweet Meriam's Farm and CSA can be found here. Sam Pearson reminds us that this group also offers community gardening and is starting up a small canning collective for those interested in growing, and then canning, crops. (Currently 6 families are enlisted.)

Registration for the program is due April 13. Cost to attend the program is $50.
