Quilts and Children's Events at Packwood House Museum

In conjunction with this summer’s quilt exhibit at Packwood House Museum in Lewisburg, two quilts reproduced from originals in the museum collection will be offered as raffle prizes by the museum. The winners will be chosen during the museum’s annual member dinner, which will take place on October 16.

Here are some nice community-minded opportunities in the Lewisburg vicinity.

From now until October, textile fans can purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win one of two reproduction quilts. The original Pennsylvania quilts will be on display at the Packwood House Museum (Water St, Lewisburg) from June 9 until October 2009 (note: the museum does charge admission). The reproduced quilts are the dedicated handiwork of a local group, the Piecemakers Quilt Guild of the Susquehanna Valley. The two quilts include a full-size Bear Paw pattern, and a smaller crib quilt with an Ohio Star pattern. Raffle tickets cost $1 each (six for $5), and can be purchased at the Packwood House Museum during normal business hours of 10am-5pm Tuesday-Saturday. The raffle will be held on October 16. Pictures of the reproduced quilts are posted at http://www.packwoodhousemuseum.com/exhibits.php

Looking for local activities this summer? In other museum news, there will be a summer program of free events designed for children. Judging from the description, it might even pique the interest of accompanying parents. Please see below:

Free Summer Children's Programs

All programs are held in the Packwood House Museum's Tour Center from 10 a.m. to noon unless otherwise noted. Registration is free but required, due to limited seating; please contact the Museum at 570-524-0323 if you would like to register your child. More detailed information will be available closer to workshop dates.
