Panel created in 1988 under auspices of United Nations by World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) involving 120 nations and over 200 world scientists to assess scientific, technical and socio- economic information relevant for the understanding of climate change, its potential impacts and options for adaptation and mitigation.
